400-kilometer long ancient plank road

There is a well-preserved ancient plank road within the border of
Chongqing's Wuxi County. The plank road is still a major artery of
traffic for local peasants today. The Ninghe ancient plank road is about
400 kilometers long. The unique road winds its way through the main
passage along the Daning River and stretches from the entry of Longmen
Gorge of the Wu Mountain to the Zhenping County in Shaanxi Province, Xi
County in Hubei Province and Chengkou County in Chongqing via Wuxi
County. According to historical records, this plank road was built in the
7th Yongping year (64 AD) of the Han dynasty (25----220 AD).
