Global notebook computer sales exceeded 48 million in 2004

On February 3, 2005, IDC released its latest statistics of notebook
computer sales in 2004. It stated that global laptop computer sales
exceeded 48 million in 2004, an increase of 24% over the previous year's
39 million. The top ten laptop makers in order were Dell, HP, Toshiba,
IBM, Acer, Fujitsu Siemens, NEC, Sony, Apple and ASUS.
