According to the World Health Organization, one billion people in the
world are overweight, while three hundred million of them suffer from
obesity. This will result in long-term health problems. These problems
are most acute in the United States, with as much as 110 billion US
dollars of economic loss and medical care expenses in 2004 resulting from
obese people taking sick leave and seeing doctors. The urban population
of China and other developing countries are facing these problems as
well, just like in the wealthy nations.
